This is my second blog post on this newly launched website. I've other previous blog posts in Wordpress.com. So, from this newly launched site's first blog post, I'm going to briefly describe about the new Ubuntu 11.04 launched on day before yesterday. It's true that still most people aren't aware of such an operating system. Most are using Windows and others are Mac. Ubuntu is the third most popular or most popular Linux distribution.
Anyway, I know that there are millions of people who enjoy Ubuntu too. As they shipped millions of copies around the world previously (the ShipIt program), much people requested free copies and I think much people switched to Ubuntu. I personally think that it's the best operating system at all. I don't have used Mac but I've used Windows. Anyway, my experiences with Windows were bad. I like Linux than Windows. I think Linux has more advanced technologies (maybe at least for Ubuntu). It's features and possibilities are really awesome for me.
Anyway, let me describe more about this Ubuntu's new release. Ubuntu's newest version, released on day before yesterday (April 28), is so much different. It has a completely new user interface. The new Ubuntu release has lost it's 'Panel' feature (on the new interface, though you can select the classic user interface) which I think most old Linux users found useful. Anyway, switching to a new interface should happen someday that everything should be improved according to user's needs. Now, its notification area has some misses. I think, program icons that are displayed on the panel (tray icons) are no more available. I mean not the date and time, sound indicator or IBus button. But, some programs, when closed, aren't gone to the notification area. The missing of panel feature results in customization of shortcuts and some other useful features< like Main Menu or Menu bar, Force quit, and some other icons and features.

Ubuntu has some new thing called Launcher. Everything based on Main Menu or Menu bar and application shortcuts found in previous distributions are now available on "Launcher". Actually, this is a new feature to Ubuntu, but, it has some natures of Windows 7 task bar, whether how many Windows open in a program, they all are displayed under one icon on the Launcher. Main Menu features like Recent Files are also now under the Files & Folders icon. It has a new button/feature that previous Ubuntu versions hadn't. The most used or most frequently used programs and features are now under Applications button. Like Windows Explorer icon, everything opened in File Browser are now shown under the Home Folder button.
Another new feature is the Menu bar of open applications. It's no more displayed on the application screen under the title, they're now displayed on a Global Menu, on top of the screen. This seems to be a completely new experience.
Ubuntu Dash is another new feature to Ubuntu. In previous versions, Ubuntu logo is placed besides the Menu bar, or as it opens the Ubuntu's Main Menu when you click it. This gives you the ability to find a program by typing a keyword and searching. Mostly like Windows' new versions' start menu search feature.
Another new feature is Ubuntu's new and improved software center. It now displays even the reviews and comments posted by users about the software.
Last feature is Ubuntu One integration of the home folder. This is useless when you want to/like to sync your local files and folders with Ubuntu One cloud servers.
These are all the new features I found on new Ubuntu. Much more new software are available and some old software are replaced with new ones. Banshee, Media Player, LibreOffice productivity suite,
